Native American portraits, Mata Ortiz, Southwest Pueblo Indian pottery of Hopi, Santa Clara, Acoma, Hopi-Tewa and San Ildefonso potters. Decorative, hand painted tile art, tile murals, glass and porcelain.


Tile painting artist Julia Sweda offers decorative tile art and murals on tiles based on Mata Ortiz, Southwest Pueblo tribal pottery and others. Some of the various pottery designs are based on the Arizona and New Mexico tribes of Hopi, Santa Clara, Acoma, Hopi-Tewa (Nampeyo) and San Ildefonso. There are designs shown from artists, potters such as: Hector and Graciela Gallegos, Nicolas Ortiz, Nicolas Quezada, Juan Quezada. Maria Martinez, Popovi Da, Teresa Salvador, Russell Sanchez, etc.
Most of the Native American portrait examples shown are based on period photos from Edward S. Curtis. They are part of Julia’s private collection and are shown to give you an idea of portraits or emulations Julia can paint for you on tile and porcelain from non-copyrighted pictures or photos.
