You have choices and options to fit your budget and space requirements. If you like a particular painting-artwork it may be possible to customize or modify it.
It is best to contact Julia for a price quote and consultation very early on. She can offer tips, things to consider (homework) with planning and coordinating your artwork to fit in with and complement your decor. Each step of the process will be discussed with you, in detail, so you will know what to expect when you commission Julia.
Cost: Do you have a budget you would like to or need to stay within? Please advise Julia of this in the initial contact with her.
Julia requires ½ of the quote, in advance, as a deposit to schedule you in.
The balance will be due when you receive your mural.
Julia’s quote does not include shipping or installation charges, they are additional separate costs.
Time frame: How soon are you going to need your painting-artwork?
You need to allow enough time for Julia to complete your painting and to ship it out. Usually, Julia is booked up many months in advance.
Tile choice: Would you like a glossy smooth finish, matte finish or a tile that mimics stone?
The tile needs to be ceramic, porcelain or glazed clay tile.
6 inch, 4 inch or some other size tile?
Julia does not offer murals and tile paintings on natural stone products which includes tumbled marble, travertine, because they cannot be fired in a kiln.
Kiln firing will make your painting/artwork permanent, your painting will not rub off, wash off, fade or be affected by heat.
For tile murals, splashing or splattering of hot liquids, foods, oils or grease from cooking or moisture from the sink, shower or bath will not harm or damage kiln fired tiles.
Who provides the tile: Julia will usually provide the tile for your mural.
She tries to arrange this so that she and her clients’ are using the same tile that can be easily obtained at nationwide stores such as Home Depot or Lowes.
In most cases, Julia only provides the tiles that are actually painted, this helps keep unnecessary shipping costs down.
If you choose to provide your own tile and it is a brand or type Julia is not familiar with it may require a test firing. Test firing will determine if the tile can be fired successfully and may be an additional cost.
Colors: The colors you would like (or don’t want) in the painting/artwork. You may need to provide paint samples, swatches, photos etc.
Shipping: Shipping costs are determined by weight, packaging, destination and insurance. Exact shipping charges are not known until your painting-artwork actually ships.
Julia does not make a profit or markup on shipping charges.
Your painting is considered to be finished art by the insurance company Julia uses at her shipper. She is required to insure your painting to protect her time/investment in creating custom artwork and to protect you, Julia’s client, in case of damage or loss in the shipping process.
Your painting will arrive double or triple boxed, with packing material around each box and each individual tile is also bubble wrapped.
These packing stipulations required by the insurer coupled with the fact that tiles are already heavy add to the shipping-finished artwork insurance costs.
Again, you will only be charged for the exact amount of shipping/insurance charges Julia incurs to ship your artwork in a professional manner.
